It’s been another busy term in Year 2, packed with excitement, learning and enrichment activities!

Our summer term History learning has focused on Intrepid Explorers. The children investigated the voyages of Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong, comparing their achievements and debating which was most significant. A highlight was certainly our 1960s theme day! The children dressed up and explored what life was like for children in the 60s. We learned all about the moon landing and had a lot of fun learning groovy dance moves too!

In science we have been investigating how plants grow and what is needed to keep them healthy. We have planted, and cared for, cress, sunflowers and sweet peas. A ‘wow’ moment was our visit to Leicester Botanic Gardens, where we saw plants from many different countries. The Cactus House was particularly interesting! We were all surprised to learn that a dragon fruit is an edible cactus! To conclude our work, we have been learning about Dr. Angie Burnett, a plant biologist, and have been very interested to find out about the job that she does.

We were also lucky to take part in a brilliant music project called 'Let's Get Playing', alongside our friends in Year 1. Fiona from NMPAT came in to teach us all about the musical elements. We learned lots of new songs and how to play the chime bars as a class orchestra.

Well done Year 2 – what a fantastic end to the year!
